Ora Brill, a graduate of the Oranim Art Institute and Lesley College, lives and works in Kfar Hess and Tel Aviv. She is the disciple of artists such as Ya’acov Dorchin, Michael Gross, and Uri Lifschitz. Brill is an artist and educator. After over twenty years of being an art educator, and tutor on behalf of the Central Art Authority, she retired in order to focus entirely on her own artistic practice.
For her, “home” is in the act of painting and drawing. Sometimes her range of imagery and techniques is expanded even further in order to arrive at a more accurate expression. Writing, photography and video art are some of the mediums that she has experimented with over the years.
In 2016 Brill has moved her center of creative activity to her studio in south Tel Aviv. She is a member of the nonprofit gallery “Artspace Tel Aviv” in Kiryat Ha’Melacha. In the past, she served on the advisory board of the Museum Council in Israel. She is also a member of the Association for Women’s Art and Gender in Israel and was chosen as their artist of the month during the month of November 2016.
Brill has exhibited in 8 solo exhibitions. Some of the curators that she has worked with include the artists Miri Nishri, the curator Nurit Tal Tenne, the curator, and head of the Tel Aviv Artists’ House Arie Berkowitz, the curator and head of the Central Art Authority Ora Kroll, and the curators Yair Barak and Ilan Wizgan.
A vertical structure and on it balancing beams - like a ladder to step on, another layer to cling to.
A container which symbolizes a disappearing presence, a reference to some extinct space.
Thread, rope-bridge, a structure whose presence is unstable. It stands almost as it is braking.
Is it tied? Is it being tied?
Is it unraveled or unraveling?
Is it in a constant state of unraveling, or one of becoming women, knitted, and stitched?
Are all of these actions which I have enumerated happening at the same time?

The line marks its own presence in the space of the empty page and allows an investigation to take place, creating a world of imagery and establishes language. Brill’s move to her studio in south Tel Aviv create for her as an artist the desire to examine anew the “way” and the “home”, language and its components, and abstract processes.
אורה בריל, בוגרת המכון לאמנות אורנים ולסלי קולג', מתגוררת בכפר הס ועובדת בתל-אביב. היא תלמידתם של האמנים יעקב דורצ'ין, מיכאל גרוס ואורי ליפשיץ. בריל היא אמנית, מורה לאמנות ומנחת קבוצות. מסלול חייה מעט אחר: לאחר מעל 20 שנות הוראת אמנות, והדרכה מטעם הפיקוח על האמנות במחוז המרכז, היא פרשה והתפנתה לעסוק באופן מלא ביצירתה האישית. לדבריה, ה"בית" הוא ציור ורישום. לעיתים קיים בה הצורך להרחיב את מנעד הייצוגים והטכניקות כדי להגיע לדיוק באמירה. כתיבה, צילום, עבודות מחשב ווידאו הן האפשרויות הנוספות בהן היא התנסתה לאורך שנות היצירה.
בשנת 2016 האמנית העתיקה את מרכז היצירה לסטודיו בדרום תל-אביב. היא חברה בעמותת 'מקום לאמנות' בקרית המלאכה ובעבר שימשה כחברה במועצת המוזיאונים לאורך שתי קדנציות. היא חברה גם בעמותת 'אמנות נשים ומגדר' ואף נבחרה לאמנית חודש נובמבר 2016 באתר העמותה. היו לה עד כה 8 תערוכות יחיד. בין האוצרים של תערוכותיה היו האמנית מירי נשרי, האוצרת נורית טל טנא, האוצר ומנהל בית האמנים בתל-אביב אריה ברקוביץ, האוצרת והמפקחת על האמנות במחוז המרכז אורה קרול, והאוצרים יאיר ברק ואילן ויזגן.
מבנה מאונך ועליו שלבים מאוזנים- כמו סולם לטפס עליו, עוד שלב להיאחז בו.
אריזה המסמנת נוכחות נעלמת, אזכור למרחב נכחד.
חוט, גשר חבלים, מבנה שנוכחותו רעועה. הוא עומד על בלימה.
האם הוא קשור? האם הוא נקשר?
האם הוא פרום או נפרם?
האם הוא כל העת מתיר עצמו, או נרקם, נסרג, נתפר?
האם כל הפעולות שמניתי נעשות באותו הזמן?

הקו מותיר רישומו על מרחב הדף, מאפשר חקירות, יוצר עולם של דימויים ומכונן שפה. העתקת הפעילות האמנותית למרכז והמעבר לקריית המלאכה יוצרים אצל אורה בריל את הצורך לבחון מחדש את ה"דרך" וה"בית", השפה ומרכיביה, תהליכים במופשט.
